COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The St. John’s men’s lacrosse team will wrap up its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the UMLC Showcase, and the Johnnies will be taking over the_mcla snapchat account for the event.

The three-team round robin tournament also includes defending MCLA Division II national champion St. Thomas and MSU-Mankato. The event will take place at Minnetonka High School starting at 8:30 a.m. (Full schedule below).

“We are really excited to get back on the field,” said St. John’s coach Derek Daehn. “The guys have been working hard in practice, but I know they are looking forward to lining up against players wearing a different color.”

The Johnnies hosted the Minn.-Duluth and North Dakota State in September. All of those games were hotly contesting, setting up an intriguing rematch with the Bison to finish the day. Mankato has also presented a solid challenge for all of the UMLC Division II teams since joining that division.

SJU will open its day, however, with arguably their toughest matchup: versus the Tommies of St. Thomas. These teams had historically played fall scrimmages, but have gone away from that in recent years. A young St. John’s squad will look to have a strong showing against the defending champions.

“To be the best, you have to beat the best,” said Daehn. “It is just a fall game, but I know both teams will be ready to play on Saturday and neither team likes to lose to the other!”
