MINNEAPOLIS -- After winning its fifth MCLA national championship in 2016 -- the most in Division II history -- St. Thomas has been picked as the favorite to win the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC) according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Tommies (18-0) were the unanimous pick for the top spot, and they were followed by North Dakota State (15-3). The Bison, which were a consensus second pick in the poll, fell to St. Thomas in the semifinals of the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour.
St. John's and Minn.-Duluth rounded out the top four in the poll.
