DALLAS - The University of Texas at Dallas men's lacrosse program has announced both its captains and schedule for the upcoming 2018 campaign.

A trio of seniors have been selected as captains. Defender Preston Dickson, midfielder Austin Estelle and attackman Zain Rehman will lead a balanced squad this spring.

"Offensively, Austin and Zain are examples of high-energy players that will produce a dominant moment every time they are on the field," said UT-Dallas coach Richard Schwartz. "Preston has developed into the model close defenseman, blending perfect footwork, positioning and stick work in every practice and game.

"Together, Austin, Zain and Preston bring uncommon leadership to the team, and have enhanced its culture of 'excellence in performance' since the club was formed four years ago."

The captains and the rest of the Comets will face an 11-game slate in pursuit of the Lone Star Alliance Division II automatic qualifying berth.

"The team opted for a more competitive spring schedule than last year, electing to play out-of-conference games against D-I LSU and A&M, as well as LSA D-II newcomer Missouri State, which was ranked second in the preseason poll," added Schwartz. "We fully expect to receive the LSA D-II AQ invitation, and are excited by the amazing talent this team has developed over the off season.

"First things first, however. We need to stay healthy and play well against several very talented lacrosse programs."
