ATLANTA- Grady Ward has been named MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week following a six goal and four assist performance in UC-Santa Barbara’s win over Cal. The Gauchos were down seven goals in the second half, but following Ward’s lead, the Gauchos made their way back and won the game 17-16 to remain undefeated and atop the WCLL standings. The Gauchos who had been winning with stingy defense had to do it another way and Ward lead the Gauchos to another win. Congratulations to Grady who will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O head – a $120 value for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
Santa Barbara head coach Mike Allan said, “In a game as wild as Saturday's game in Berkeley, it's easy to lose sight of the individual performances. Our defense had been carrying us through the early part of the season, and we found ourselves in quite a different spot against Cal. We had a lot of guys on offense step up, but Grady consistently made plays and allowed us to stage a big comeback and win. I didn't realize until after the game that he had 6 goals and 4 assists. 10 points in an important conference game on the road is a big-time performance!”
