Brett Bernardo is taking on a new role with Liberty lacrosse as the Offensive Coordinator. Bernardo played three stellar seasons with the Flames, and graduated in 2016 with a degree in Business Marketing. Along with coaching the offense, the Upstate New York native also does marketing at the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center. Bernardo graduated from Shenendahowa High School in Clifton Park, NY (2011) as a scholar athlete, Section 2 First Team All-Star hockey goalie, and lacrosse midfielder. He was recruited to play lacrosse for NCAA Division I Marist College. He played his freshman year against top-ranked opponents such as Duke and Maryland, but due to an injury during his sophomore year he was redshirted. During his junior year he believed that God was leading him elsewhere. After that fall semester, Brett transferred to Liberty as a redshirt sophomore. After his first season (Spring 2014), he was recognized as an SELC All-Tournament Midfielder, named a 2-year captain, and received multiple accolades. Over the next two years, Bernardo received SELC All-Tournament Midfield, First Team SELC All-Conference Midfield, and was awarded the Corey Noonan Offensive Player of the Year Award. He was also the Liberty Flames first Division I First Team All-American in 2015, and became a two-time D1 First Team All-American in his senior year campaign. Bernardo has also been involved with FCA Lacrosse (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), coaching and helping with camps. He is an alumnus of the FCA Fellows Internship (summer 2015). He has a passion for working with young men and their growth as leaders with their personal goals and life challenges.
