A hockey and football standout in high school, Jeff played lacrosse for recreation in his hometown on Hamilton, Ontario. Jeff attended Colgate University on a football scholarship. In 1993 he was twice named the Patriot League defensive player of the week, as well as the ECAC defensive player of the week once. Jeff was drafted 45th in the 1994 Canadian Football League enter draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. After his professional football career was over, Jeff moved back to playing lacrosse. In 2003 he was a member of the Burlington Senior B and St. Catherine's Major A Lacrosse Clubs. In 2004, Jeff played defensive specialist for the Toronto Rock and helped them win the National League Lacrosse World Championship. Jeff also played for the Six Nations Major A and Kitchener-Waterloo Senior B Lacrosse Clubs.
