No. 13 Sierra Nevada Dumps Fullerton
HENDERSON, Nev. -- No. 11 Cal State Fullerton entered Saturday's game averaging 18.6 goals per game, but the Titans managed just a fraction of that mark as Sierra Nevada's defense dominated in a 5-3 victory.
Eagle long-stick middie Jack Witt opened the scoring in the first quarter. Also contributing on the day were midfielder Dylan Fangmeier (2g) and attackmen Nic Zvirzin (1g) and Kyle Rockwell (1g).
"Our defense continues to prove how tough they are," said SNC coach Matt Blamey. "However, credit must also be given to the stellar defensive play of the Titans. With 34 shots, we were only able to put five in the back of the net. This was a back and forth battle until the very end."
The win over Fullerton was the Eagles first in a doubleheader weekend at the LAX Coaches vs. Cancer event in Las Vegas. On Sunday, Sierra Nevada will take on the No. 3 Concordia-Irvine. Faceoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
