DENVER -- Fresh off a trip to RMLC playoffs and an impressive win over tournament-qualifier UC San Diego, the MSU Denver men's lacrosse program has released the schedule it hopes will guide it back to the 2020 MCLA National Championships sponsored by New Balance.
The Roadrunners will play a 16-game schedule with three games against teams ranked in the final 2019 MCLA Division II Coaches Poll and a total of five games against Lone Start Alliance (LSA) opponents.
MSU Denver will start its season with a road trip to Stillwater, Okla., to play three games in two days, squaring off with Oklahoma State, UT-Dallas and Kansas State. The following weekend, the Roadrunners will host Saint Louis for its first home game of the season on Feb. 15.
For spring break, the Roadrunners will travel to Las Vegas to play UNLV before heading to San Diego to play a neutral site game against Western Oregon and a much-anticipated rematch against UC San Diego.
For senior weekend, MSU Denver will host Fort Lewis on April 4 and Creighton the following day before heading to Utah to play Utah State and scrimmage Weber State the weekend of April 11-12.
“The boys and I are really excited at the schedule we put together this season," said MSU Denver coach Jon Black. "Compared to last year, we’ve upgraded every single position on the field, added some depth to the roster and have shown some real flashes of brilliance during fall ball. When we can put everything together, this is an extremely fun team to watch.”
Jared Sines, a first team all-conference defender, is equally optimistic.
“I can’t wait to see what our team can achieve this season," said Sines. "We’ve added some great new talent that can completely improve our play and I’m excited to see what this season brings.”
Fellow all-conference defender Brendan Collison added, “We’ve put together a challenging schedule, but I’m confident our guys are up for it. We’re returning all our all-conference players from last season and we’ve continued to elevate our game every day during fall ball and are ready to make some headlines this spring.”
