UMLC Tourney Heading to Minnesota

February 3rd, 2022 General News | Dayton | GVSU | Indiana | Michigan State | Minn-Duluth | Minnesota | NDSU | St. Johns | St. Thomas | Central Michigan | Illinois | Illinois State | Iowa State | Miami (Ohio) | Nebraska | Purdue | Western Michigan

MINNEAPOLIS – The Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC), a league featuring 17 teams from eight different states, has announced the location and dates of its 2022 conference tournament.

The event will be held from April 22-24, with the first round and semifinals held at either Chanhassen High School (Division I) or Chaska High School (Division II). The championship games in both divisions will be hosted by the Eastern Carver County Athletic Center, a domed facility in Chaska.

“The UMLC tournament should feature some great rematches from the regular season and I look forward to sending our two automatic qualifiers to the MCLA tournament,” said UMLC conference director Derek Daehn.

“As the MCLA knows, April weather in the Midwest, especially Minnesota, can be unpredictable,” added Daehn. “We are lucky to have secured a dome to ensure both D-I and D-II champions will be crowned under the best possible playing conditions.”

Six teams will qualify for the UMLC Division I tournament. The third seed from the West subdivision will be the second seed from the East and vice versa in the first round on Friday night.

The winners of those games will challenge the top seeds on Saturday afternoon. The finals will be played at noon on Sunday.

The Division II bracket will also feature six teams with the same format as Division I. The championship game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The UMLC is accepting bids for the 2023 Conference Tournament April 21-23. Please contact Derek Daehn.
