VaTech’s Cole Named Player of Week
ATLANTA – With No. 8 Virginia Tech playing the game of the week at No. 3 Clemson, the Hokies got a huge effort out of junior attackman Jared Cole in the dominating win, earning him MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week honors for the period ending April 3.
With the teams jockeying for ALC seeding and a resume-building win, the Ashburn, Va., product struck for four goals and three assists as the Hokies rolled up the Tigers, 21-11.
On the season, Cole has 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points.
"J. Cole is just scratching the surface of what he is capable of,” said Virginia Tech coach Panchito Ojeda. “Incredible vision, strength and speed has made him a force on the attack. His positive energy and relentless work ethic are contagious at practice."
For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Cole will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
Andrew Buckley, Attack – Concordia-Irvine
The Eagles waxed both Colorado and Texas Christian over the weekend thanks to a combined 10 goals from the Laguna Niguel, Calif., product.
Devin Raun, Attack – Georgia Tech
The Wreck dispatched Florida State and Georgia thanks to a combined eight goals and an assist from the Marlborough, Mass., native.
Braden Rome, Attack – Arizona State
The rookie from Novato, Calif., helped the Sun Devils roll past USC and UCLA by combining for seven goals and four dimes.
Kenny Seiler, Attack – Dominican
The Penguins took down Nevada for their first conference win, helped by six goals and a dime from the Tustin, Calif., product.
Christopher Wilk, Midfield – Northeastern
The two-way middie from San Jose, Calif., native buried a hat trick against both NC State and Temple for a 2-0 Huskies weekend.
