ATLANTA-Montana goalie Joey Cortner racked up an eye popping 66 saves across three games for the Grizzlies during the Rocky Mountain Rumble. Cortner’s performance helped propel Montana to a 3-0 weekend. The Spokane, WA native allowed only 20 goals and grabbed 12 groundballs. Cortner was a big factor in the Grizzlies’ hot start to the season. The strong performance has earned Cortner the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week honor.
Montana head coach Tucker Sargent said, “Joey is a humble and exceptional player every day, game or practice. He holds himself to the highest standard of any player I have ever coached. As the competition got better Joey and our defense played better and inspired the rest of the team to play their best. As a coach it was very satisfying to watch.”
In recognition of his performance Cortner will receive a PEARL swag bag including PEARL lacrosse balls- the official ball of the MCLA.
