ATLANTA- A pair of faceoff specialists have been named Warrior Player of the Week for Division I and Division II respectively.

San Jose State Junior Hunter Dietrich won 12 of 13 faceoffs while collecting 10 ground balls.  Dietrich also scored eight goals while dishing out two assists and causing two turnovers.  The San Ramon, CA native helped lead the Spartans to a conference win over St. Mary’s.

San Jose State head coach Derek de Lemos said, “Coaching nearly 30 years in the WCLL, I’ve seen a lot of great performances—but Hunter’s on Parents and Alumni Weekend stands alone. He dominated every aspect of the game. Face Off, defense and offense, and did it within our team concept, every goal of his was assisted. Hunter works hard at his craft, leading directly to results.”  Following his stat stuffing performance Dietrich has been named MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week.

Georgia Tech Senior Ben Skopicki was dominant at the faceoff dot for the Yellow Jackets on their two game swing through New England.  The Jericho, NY native won 27 of 33 faceoffs for the weekend while collecting 20 ground balls and adding two assists.  Thanks in part to Skopicki’s efforts the Jackets were able to control possession in both games and as a result the Jackets got two wins on the weekend.

Georgia Tech head coach Ken Lovic said, “Ben has been a really strong face off guy throughout his career for us.  His  ability to consistently win faceoffs over the weekend helped our offense find some rhythm.  In addition to his consistency, he is able to win the faceoff forward and create transition helping us build runs of goals or quickly answer back to goals from our opponents.”

For their efforts Skopicki and Dietrich will each receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O head – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
