ATLANTA- Rhode Island midfielder Neil MacGillivray has been named MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week. The Rams got their season into gear over the weekend and MacGillivray helped lead them to two wins over Dayton and Utah State. The senior from Barrington, R.I. scored seven goals and added two assists to help propel the Rams offense to 33 goals across the two games. For his efforts MacGillivray will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O head – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
Rhode Island head coach Charlie White said of MacGillivray, “Neil has been as crucial to the success of our offense to start the season as anyone. The stats will speak for themselves, but what they don't tell you is his growth in IQ. Making the right reads on and off-ball, keeping the offense in rhythm and giving up the glory of getting in the scoresheet in the interest of getting us a higher-quality look. We talk about selflessness on offense all the time, and despite being credited with 9 points in two games, the amount of plays he was involved in that led to goals for his teammates far surpasses that stat total. I am extremely proud of not only the player Neil has become, but the leader and teammate he is.”
