TAMPA – Each week, coaches in the SELC submit their nominations to the SELC Awards Committee for an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week to be recognized.
Below are the SELC Players of the Week in both divisions for games played from Feb. 6-12:
Division I
Offensive Player of the Week
Rory Cavanaugh, Georgia - Freshman, Attack
The Dawgs went undefeated over the weekend, claiming wins over No. 5 Clemson and Auburn. Despite only playing one half in each of the two games, Cavanaugh still managed to contribute six goals, three assists and three ground balls in total to help lift Georgia in the big wins.
Defensive Player of the Week
Vinny Mercadante, Florida State - Senior, FOS
The Seminoles recorded impressive wins over No. 14 Boston College and divisional opponent Central Florida. This was partially thanks to Mercadante, who would win 34 of his 38 draws taken while contributing two goals, an assist and 10 ground balls over the weekend.
