ATLANTA- Sophomore Ryan Shugart stood tall in the net for the Chapman Panthers over the weekend. The Winston-Salem, NC native made 26 saves and allowed only 12 goals as the Panthers defeated Cal and Northeastern. Shugart was particularly dominant in the first half of each game propelling Chapman to a 7-1 lead over the Bears and a 6-2 lead over the Huskies at halftime. As a result of his stellar performance, Shugart has been named the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week.
Chapman head coach Joel Kallas described Shugart’s performance, “Timely saves, total command. Shug was the ultimate equalizer this weekend, dismantling momentum with every stop and quarterbacking a defensive unit that refused to break.”
In recognition of his performance, Shugart will receive a PEARL swag bag including PEARL lacrosse balls- the official ball of the MCLA.
