Sierra Nevada Routs Humboldt State

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - Sierra Nevada remained undefeated in WCLL play and moved to 11-1 overall with a convincing, 23-1 win over Humboldt State on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles currently sit at No. 10 nationally in the Under Armour MCLA Coaches Poll.

Eleven different players scored for SNC. Leading the offense for the Eagles was attackmen Nic Zvirzin (5g, 1a) and Jake Caliguire (4g, 1a) on the day. Midfielders Jake McIntyire and Stefan Sandoval each added a hat trick for the SNC offense.

Perhaps the most impressive statistic on the day was Eagle long stick midfielder Jack Witt accounting for a goal and three assists along with an astonishing 23 ground balls during the game.

"It was nice to finally be back on our home field in Tahoe this afternoon. You could see how pumped the guys were from the moment they showed up to the venue," said SNC coach Matt Blamey. "We played well as a team and it was great to see so many guys get involved.

"Most importantly, however, is that we avoided a very scary moment this afternoon. The highlight of the day was not the victory... it was getting the news tonight that Timmy is going to be OK. We'll chalk this one up for him!"

With today's triumph, the Eagles retain the top spot in the WCLL. Next Sunday, April 24, SNC will play host to San Jose State University in the final game of the 2016 regular season. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Tahoe Vista.
