ATLANTA- Strong goalie play is not a prerequisite to winning a conference tournament, but it certainly helps.  As such, it is no wonder that Ethan Streiner of Florida State and Cameron Jeffers of Arkansas propelled their teams to conference tournament championships over the weekend.

Jeffers led the Razorbacks through three games in Melissa, Texas.  Jeffers made 58 saves and allowed 29 goals across the three games.  The Razorbacks collected wins over Houston, Drury, and Oklahoma State to win the Lone Star Alliance Division II Championship.  Thanks in part to the play of Jeffers the Razorbacks took the hardware home from Sweet Melissa.  In recognition of his performance Jeffers has been named the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week.

Arkansas head coach Gill Trainor said, “"Cam is the heart and soul of our defense, which was on full display this past weekend during our playoff run. With 58 saves and a 66.7% save percentage over three games he was instrumental in leading us to an LSA Championship.  As a senior captain and club president, Cam is the type of leader every coach hopes to have on their team."

Streiner led the Seminoles into the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) tournament in Jacksonville featuring four highly ranked teams.  The Seminoles played #7 South Carolina in the semifinals and Streiner made ten saves while allowing only nine goals as the Seminoles got their highest ranked win of the season.   The Seminoles advanced to play #11 Georgia in the championship game.  Streiner turned in another sparkling performance making 16 saves and allowing eight goals.  Streiner’s performance helped lead the Seminoles to their first SELC championship in 15 years and in the process has been named MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week.

Seminoles head coach Jones Clingerman said, “Ethan Streiner has been an impact transfer for us from Iona’s Division I program. He’s an original Floridian who played at St. Thomas Aquinas down in South Florida. He kept us in both games this weekend with some major saves, allowing just 17 total goals across two games against high scoring offenses.”

In recognition of their efforts Jeffers and Streiner will receive a PEARL swag bag including PEARL balls- the official ball of the MCLA.
