ATLANTA – After leading the Yotes to a big Top 10 upset, College of Idaho senior netminder Jacob Wong has been named the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 23.

In Friday’s clash with No. 9 Utah State, the Yotes would need a masterful performance out of Wong and they got it. The Boise, Idaho, product made 16 saves as College of Idaho posted the 14-11 win.

Wong wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with 13 more saves in a 14-5 victory over Central Washington.

For the period, Wong made 29 saves and registered a combined 64.4 save percentage.

“Jacob was the backbone of our defense this weekend and has been all season,” said College of Idaho coach Drake O’Neill. “Not only does he consistently make high level jaw-dropping saves, more importantly he is a coach on the field; setting our defense and executing our game plans.

“He has been doing this all season, but it was showcased against Utah State”

As the recipient of the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Wong will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.
