Colorado was behind defending national champion Grand Canyon in the preseason, but Utah Valley’s overtime upset of the Lopes propelled the Buffs into the first chair. Grand Canyon fell to ninth in this poll, although the Lopes did hold onto one first place vote.
Chapman, Arizona State, Virginia Tech and Brigham Young round out the top five, with the Panthers and Sun Devils snagging one first place vote apiece. Georgia Tech, which checked in at No. 6, also picked up a first place marker.
There are three new additions to the poll: No. 22 Utah Valley, No. 23 UNLV and No. 24 Oregon. That trio replaces Dominican, Minnesota and UC Santa Barbara, which are all receiving votes.
