GRLC Tournament Begins Friday

ST. LOUIS – Fourteen programs from two divisions travel to St. Louis this weekend in search of a Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) championship and an automatic berth in the 2016 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour.

In Division I, six teams will vie for the automatic qualifier. In the first round, Iowa faces Purdue on Friday with the winner meeting Kansas in the semifinals on Saturday. In the other first round contest, Miami (Ohio) and Missouri clash for the right to take on Indiana. The championship game will be on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Division II features a full quarterfinal on Friday with cross divisional matchups. On one side of the bracket Missouri Baptist faces Washington (Mo.) and Missouri Valley meets St. Ambrose. The other half of the draw includes Lindenwood-Belleville versus St. Louis and Robert Morris tangling with Missouri State. The semifinals occur on Saturday and the championship game will be on Sunday at noon.

With the exception of the Lindenwood-Belleville vs. St. Louis quarterfinal game (which will take place at the St. Louis Soccer Park), all of the GRLC games will be held on the campus of Washington University. All contests are free to the public.

Friday, April 29 – First Round – St. Louis
Division I
Game 1: #3W Iowa vs. #2E Purdue, 6:15 p.m.
Game 2: #3E Miami (Ohio) vs. #2W Missouri, 9 p.m.
Division II
Game 1: #1SW Missouri Baptist vs. #2SE Washington (St. Louis), 10 a.m.
Game 2: #1NW Missouri Valley vs. #2NE St. Ambrose, 12:45 p.m.
Game 3: #1SE Lindenwood-Belleveille vs. #2SW St. Louis, 1 p.m.
Game 4: #1NE Robert Morris vs. #2NW Missouri State, 3:30 pm..

Saturday, April 30 – Semifinals – St. Louis
Division I
Game 1 winner vs. #1W Kansas, 4 p.m.
Game 2 winner vs. #1E Indiana, 7 p.m.
Division II
Game 1 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 10 a.m.
Game 2 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 1 p.m.

Sunday, May 1 – Finals – St. Louis
Division I
Semifinal winners, 3 p.m.
Division II
Semifinal winners, 12 p.m.
