Sierra Nevada Takes Control of WCLL
INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - Sierra Nevada moves into sole position of first place in the WCLL with today's 8-4 defeat of UC Davis. The Eagles move to 5-0 in conference and 10-1 on the season while the Aggies fall to 6-4 and 3-1 in the league.
Attackman Jake Caliguire stepped up big, earning a hat trick, all of which came in the first three goals of the game. Five different Eagles would find the back of the net during the contest.
Long-stick midfielder Jack Witt added nine ground balls and three assists. Goalie Austin Farina continued his stellar play between the pipes, notching 11 saves for a save percentage of 73.0 on the afternoon.
"This was an important victory for the program," said Eagle coach Matt Blamey. "Davis has been playing well this year and we knew that we would need a full team effort to come out on top. I'm very proud of our guys for their performance this afternoon."
SNC has two games left on their regular season slate. After a well-deserved bye weekend, the Lumberjacks from Humboldt State University will travel to Tahoe on Saturday, April 16. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
