FORTH WORTH, Texas -- The Texas Christian University men's lacrosse team has announced that it will be led by quad captains for the 2017 campaign.
Returning captains Chris Tomaselli, Logan Smith and Caleb Staff will be joined by fist-time captain Ethan Philips.
The Horned Frogs will have nearly all levels of the field covered from a captaincy perspective. Tomaselli is a senior attackman, Smith is a senior defenseman, Staff is a junior middie while Phillips is a sophomore long-stick midfielder.
Four candidates were nominated for the fourth captain slot, with Phillips getting the nod.
"These nomination did not come lightly, as our coaching staff is looking for student-athletes who can be mentored into leaders of men, who can be an extension of the coaching staff on and off the field, have the skill and will to earn the leadership from players, and be role models for the underclassmen," said TCU coach Mark Purcell.
TCU was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team Division I Lone Star Alliance preseason coaches poll after finishing 2016 with a 6-8 mark.
