Field Set for LSA Tournament
DALLAS – The fields have been set for both the Division I and Division II Lone Star Alliance tournaments, which will begin on the weekend of April 22 at home sites and conclude on April 29-30 on the campus of Southern Methodist.
In Division I, Oklahoma and Texas have grabbed top seeds out of the North and South divisions, respectively. They will be challenged for the automatic qualifying bid to nationals by numerous teams, including defending conference champion SMU and ’15 champ Texas State.
The 2017 season marks the return of the automatic qualifying bid to nationals in Division II, and the frontrunners are UT-Dallas and Louisiana. The Comets and Ragin’ Cajuns met in last year’s championship game, with Louisiana taking the 11-8 victory.
The automatic qualifiers and any at-large selections will participate in the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will feature a 16-team field in both divisions. The national tournament runs from May 8-13 in Orange County, Calif., on the campuses of UC Irvine and Chapman University.
The field for nationals will be announced on the evening of Sunday, April 30 on MCLA.us.
StickStar Lacrosse will be streaming the semifinals and finals in both divisions of the 2017 LSA tournament. The LSA, which is sponsored by Lax Kong and the MLL, will charge $5 adult admission per day and youth wearing a lacrosse association jersey will be admitted free along with children nine and under.
