Sonoma Unleashes Sked, Captains
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Coming off an appearance in the WCLL semifinals and a third place conference finish, Sonoma State is looking to build toward and earn a conference title in 2018.
The Seawolves will play a 15-game slate featuring nine nationally ranked opponents.
The Seawolves kick off the spring with a non-conference tilt at rival UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 10. The Seawolves return home for seven games in a stretch that features three opponents ranked in the Top 25. That is followed by a road trip to play 2017 MCLA Division I national champions Grand Canyon along with Arizona.
Sonoma State returns home for games against WCLL foes Dominican, Cal and Cal Poly. The regular season wraps up with a road trip to Nevada and Chico.
“This schedule is challenging,” said Sonoma coach Panchito Ojeda. “We want to be tested against the best of the best each week. We are looking forward to multiple Top 5 and Top 25 matchups. ”
The Seawolves have also announced that senior midfielder Camron Cruz, senior attackman Danny Avery and senior attackman Spencer O’Reilly have been named captains for the 2018 season.
“Each of these young men embody the blue collar culture that exists here at Sonoma State," Ojeda said. "They will be great peer leaders for their teammates as we work to earning a WCLL championship and MCLA tournament bid.”
