NAU’s Mastro Has Top Performance
ATLANTA – Northern Arizona swept a trio of ranked teams, including No. 4 St. John’s, this weekend helped by the play of senior midfielder Sean Mastro, who earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 18.
Mastro started his week on Friday against No. 23 MSU Denver by scoring three goals and dishing out two dimes while also going 6-for-6 on faceoffs and snagging seven ground balls.
The Huntington Beach, Calif., native scored four goals along with an assist in a win over No. 21 Providence on Saturday. He went 6-for-12 on draws while scooping five ground balls.
Mastro finished the week by notching a goal and an assist against No. 4 St. John’s as the Lumberjacks stunned the Johnnies, 8-7. Mastro’s best work came at the dot where he won 11-of-13 draws and gobbled up seven ground balls.
“Our senior captain is a do-it-all midfielder with the ability to go on both offense and defense, and is our most successful faceoff guy,” said Northern Arizona coach Dan Conrad. “His highlight of the weekend was winning all the faceoffs in the fourth quarter against St. John's, which propelled us to a comeback victory. Over my two years at NAU, Sean is a guy that can get things done at the X when it's crunch time.”
For the weekend, Mastro finished with eight goals and four assists while winning 23-of-31 faceoffs (74.2 percent).
For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Mastro will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Ben Larriviere, Jr. – Louisiana
The attackman scored seven goals and dished out two assists helping the Ragin’ Cajuns push past Southeastern Louisiana on Friday.
Sam Pernici, Jr. – Louisiana Tech
The Bulldogs dispatched with Southeastern Louisiana thanks to six goals, two assists and three ground balls from the middie.
Brooks Thomson, Fr. – Portland State
The Vikings picked up a big win over Western Oregon over the weekend thanks to eight goals from the rookie attackman.
