Chapman Grabs SLC Crown

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Chapman rallied from a three-goal first-quarter deficit to defeat Concordia-Irvine and capture the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) championship at La Costa Canyon High School on Sunday.

With the victory, the Panthers (13-0) earn an automatic qualifying berth to the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Salt Lake City from May 7-12.

Concordia-Irvine (12-2) raced out to a 4-1 lead to start the game, but Chapman kept chipping away, getting to within a goal, 5-4, at halftime before overtaking the Eagles in the third quarter.

This will be Chapman’s 12th visit to nationals. Concordia-Irvine finds out its at-large fate this evening.

The MCLA Selection Committee will release the participants and matchups this evening. Check MCLA.us for all your championship information.
