College of Idaho Wins PNCLL-II
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – College of Idaho senior attackman Nich Guzzetti dodged down the right alley and ripped the overtime game-winner, giving the Yotes an 11-10 victory over Montana in the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League (PNCLL) Division II championship game.
With the win, College of Idaho (10-2) automatically qualifies for a berth in the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which take place in Salt Lake City from May 7-12.
Montana (12-4) took a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and despite four goals from COI in the second frame, the Grizzlies took a 7-5 edge into the half.
College of Idaho slowly chipped away, tying the game with just under seven minutes to play. Both teams had chances, but neither could convert, setting up Guzzetti’s clincher.
This will be the Yotes’ first berth at nationals. Montana now awaits its at-large fate.
The MCLA Selection Committee will release the participants and matchups this evening. Check MCLA.us for all your championship information.
