Northeastern Leads PCLL-I Bracket
BOSTON – Northeastern is the reigning Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) champion and the Huskies will defend their crown as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament at the Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, Mass., on April 28-29.
Northeastern (6-4, 4-1) has won four of the last five games, earning them the top seed. The Huskies will battle No. 4 seed New Hampshire (7-3, 3-2) in the first semifinal on Saturday.
The Wildcats won the regular season matchup on April 13, 13-12, thanks to three goals and three assists from the tallest player in the MCLA, 6-foot-8 Sam Stanton.
In the second semifinal, third-seeded Buffalo (9-5, 3-2) will clash with second-seeded Boston College (8-4, 4-1). The Eagles cruised, 14-3, in the regular season meeting on April 14.
“New England weather always means our teams find their stride later than most, but all four of these teams are in postseason form right now,” said PCLL director Daniel Morris. “This tournament is a toss-up, as usual, and will make for some great drama.”
The winner of the PCLL championship will earn an automatic qualifying berth to the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Salt Lake City from May 7-12.
Admission to the PCLL Division I Tournament is free. Youth and high school players are encouraged to attend.
