Davenport’s Riley Drafted by NLL
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Dylan Riley, a senior attackman for Davenport last spring, has been selected in the fifth round of the National Lacrosse League draft, which was held on Tuesday evening in Philadelphia.
Riley, a Windsor, Ont., product, was selected 62nd overall by the Rochester Knighthawks.
“We are very happy to see Dylan be selected," said Davenport coach Chris Esquivel. "Dylan is a great person and led by example in every practice and game. He’s a big player that has great hands and is very talented off ball.”
Riley scored 42 goals and dished out 23 assists (65 points) for the Panthers, helping Davenport finish with an 11-3 record and a No. 18 ranking in the final Under Armour Top 25 weekly poll.
He earned the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the Week of March 4 after he scored seven goals and set up an eighth in Davenport’s massive, 19-16 upset of No. 4 Brigham Young in Provo.
At the conclusion of the season, Riley was named all-CCLA second team, honorable mention All-American and a Scholar Athlete.
Prior to his one season at Davenport, Riley played at Florida Tech (NCAA Division II) and CCBC Essex (NJCAA).
He will be an assistant for Davenport this spring.
