KSU’s Molander Grabs D-II Goalie Honors
ATLANTA – With a monster effort in cage in a win over divisional rival Wake Forest, Kennesaw State junior netminder Jay Molander was named Pearl’s Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 3.
With the 17th-ranked Demon Deacons hosting No. 8 Kennesaw State and eyeing an upset, Molander dispensed with that idea by making 17 saves (70.8 save percentage) in the Owls’ 10-7 triumph.
In addition, Molander chipped in with six ground balls and a caused turnover.
“His ability to make clean saves and outlet quick allowed our defense to get into a groove early and also allowed for a quick-strike offense from the clear,” said Kennesaw State coach Alex Gavilla. “I am very proud of Jay's performance, however, with his work ethic over the off season and his dedication to the weight room, it is no surprise that he would have a great performance.”
For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Molander will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.
