BERKELEY, Calif. -- No. 17 UC Santa Barbara visited No. 8 Cal Berkeley on Saturday afternoon in scenic Memorial Stadium and the Golden Bears managed to take a hard-fought, 12-11 victory.

Cal (1-0) raced out to an 8-4 lead at halftime, but the Gauchos (0-2) used a 6-2 third quarter to tie the affair at 10 apiece. The Bears struck late to salvage the victory.
Miles Rosberg had four goals for Cal while also winning 5-of-8 faceoffs and grabbing six ground balls. Nick Beattie made 11 stops in net.
Reed Zabel paced UCSB with a two goals and a pair of assists. Peter Brydon was spectacular in goal, turning away 28 Cal shots.
