South Carolina's Hains is Top Goalie
ATLANTA – After standing tall in net against No. 14 Florida State, South Carolina netminder Colin Hains has been named Pearl’s Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 10.
With the Gamecocks offense sputtering in the first half, Hains almost single-handedly kept South Carolina in the contest by making 10 of his 15 stops in the game during the first 30 minutes.
Trailing 4-1 at the half, the Bethesda, Md., native made another four stops in the third quarter to blank the Seminoles and allow the Gamecocks to rally for the 8-6 victory.
“Colin is a great stopper who has become an excellent leader over the past few seasons,” said South Carolina coach James Harkey. “His best attributes are his communication skills and his rock-steady mental attitude. Glad to have him in our corner.”
For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Hains will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.
