PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Virginia Tech was looking to make a statement in its California spring break trip opener, and the Hokies certainly managed to do that, cruising to a 21-5 victory over Stanford on Monday evening on the Farm.

Videographer Claude Lyneis was at the contest and put together a highlight package for MCLA.us, which is available below.

Virginia Tech, ranked No. 11 in the latest Under Armour Division I Weekly Coaches Poll, raced out to a 9-4 lead at halftime and then dropped the hammer in the third, outscoring No. 15 Stanford, 5-0.

Reed Findlay had two goals to lead the Cardinal while goalie Alex Haigh made 19 saves in the loss.
