UC Davis’ Antonio is Goalie of Week
ATLANTA – After leading the Aggies to a big upset this past weekend, UC Davis junior netminder Arthur Antonio has been named Pearl’s MCLA Division II Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 17.
UC Davis welcomed No. 8 Northern Arizona on Saturday and thanks to 14 saves from the Mill Valley, Calif., product, the Aggies posted an impressive, 13-6 victory.
Antonio had a save percentage of 70.0 in the triumph.
“As a stopper, you can tell every time you watch Arthur play how solid and steady he is,” said UC Davis coach Frank Resetarits. “What sets Arthur apart from other goalies is his leadership in the cage. He is like a coach on the field with how he can diagnose opposing team’s offense and communicates to his defense what he sees.
“He's a natural leader who works just as hard in practice as the games and has been one of the most important pieces in the culture we're trying to create at Davis.”
For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Antonio will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.
