UC Davis Takes WCLL-II Title
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – With an impressive defensive performance bolstered by the production by tournament Most Valuable Player Nicholas Lombardo, UC Davis defeated Saint Mary’s, 11-2, to take the West Coast Lacrosse League (WCLL) Division II championship on Saturday night at Rancho Cotate High School.
Lombardo, a sophomore midfielder, scored five goals and dished out an assist in the championship game, accounting for over half of the Aggies (11-4) production. He also scored a goal and dished two dimes in the semifinals against Humboldt State.
The UC Davis defense kept Saint Mary’s (6-7) in check, allowing just a lone goal in each of the two halves.
Without an automatic qualifying bid to the 2019 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, UC Davis will await its nationals fate on Sunday when the selection committee unveils the MCLA Division II bracket.
The bracket will be revealed on MCLA.us on Sunday evening. For those looking for tickets for nations, please visit the ticket site HERE.
