UMLC-I Tournament Field Unveiled

MINNEAPOLIS – After posting undefeated conference records, both Minnesota and Purdue earned top seeds in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC) Division I tournament that commences this Friday at the Crown Point (Ind.) Sportsplex.

The first round on Friday will be followed by the semifinal son Saturday and the championship game on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The champion earns an automatic qualifying berth to the 2019 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which takes place from May 6-11 in Salt Lake City.

2019 UMLC DIVISION I TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Minnesota (11-6, 4-0 UMLC) was the top seed out of the West subdivision and will face East fourth seed Illinois (3-7, 0-3). The winner of that contest will move on to the UMLC semifinals to await the winner of the west No. 3 seed Missiouri (2-2, 7-4) and second-seeded Indiana (8-4, 2-1).

On the other side of the bracket, Purdue (5-6, 3-0) and East third seed Illinois State (1-7, 1-2) earn byes and will face each other in the semifinals.

“The UMLC Division I championship is as strong as it has ever been,” said UMLC director Derek Daehn. “The race for the automatic qualifier is going to be very exciting.”

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children through college-age (with ID). Weekend passes will be available for $10 children/college and $20 for adults.

Quarterfinals – April 26
GAME 1: #4E Illinois vs. #1W Minnesota, 5:30 p.m.
GAME 2: #3W Missouri vs. #2E Indiana, 8 p.m.
Semifinals – April 27
#3E Illinois State vs. Purdue, 3 p.m.
GAME 1 winner vs. GAME 2 winner, 3 p.m.

Finals – April 28
Semifinal winners, 1:30 p.m.
