Cohen Added to Arizona Staff
TUCSON, AZ - The University of Arizona men's lacrosse program is pleased to announce the hiring of Colby Cohen to the staff. Cohen will take over duties as faceoff coach and running the substitution box.
Before joining the program, Cohen served as undergraduate assistant coach at Cortland in 2017 and assistant coach Mount Saint Vincent in 2018.
While coaching at Cortland, Cohen trained faceoff specialists for the Division 3 powerhouse. Under his tutelage, one of his players was named SUNYAC first team all-conference, SUNYAC first team all-tournament, Honorable Mention All-American and selected for the D3 North/South Senior All-Star Game. At Mount St. Vincent, he helped recruit new and talented athletes to build out the program.
Cohen’s passion for the sport has taken the New York native all over the globe: from playing in the Israeli Premier Lacrosse League and coaching a faceoff clinic in Israel, to officiating games at the FIL Word Lacrosse Festival in Manchester, U.K. and Denver, Colo.; to coaching at the Army Lacrosse Camp in West Point, N.Y.
In 2017, Cohen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Cortland, where he was a faceoff specialist for the club lacrosse team. In addition to his work with the Wildcats, Cohen will continue his work with Faceoff Academy, running specialized clinics in the Tucson area.
"The faceoff position is arguably more important than it has ever been," said Arizona coach Matt Blamey. "Coach Cohen comes highly recommended to the University of Arizona. We are fortunate to bring someone on board who has coached at the level he has both with Cortland and with the Faceoff Acadeny. He will be an immediate asset to the team."
