ALLENDALE, Mich. – Disciplined.

That’s how Grand Valley State plays. Just a disciplined bunch.

There isn’t a ton of highlight reel footage coming out of Allendale. But there are a lot of victories.

Tim Murray is 111-37 since he arrived. Three out of every four.

The numbers don’t lie.

Because of the no-nonsense approach, Grand Valley is one of the teams no one wants to run into at any point, never mind a virtual postseason.

A couple of goals here and there against St. Thomas and we’re living in a Lakers’ dynasty.

Seriously. It’s that close.

Sam Highland isn’t quite on the same plane as Holding, Dumsa or Parry, but he’s a killer.

An assassin that Elon will be hard-pressed to lock down.

“We have a good team,” said Murray.*

But crazy things have happened before.

Elon makes the tourney after dropping down from Division I and it has been the defense led by senior Teague Whalen and sophomore Dan Mulligan.

Senior David Burke leads the Phoenix offense with both a scoring and passing eye.
