ALLENDALE, Mich. – These two met on the real lacrosse field on March 5 as part of Music City Judgement with the Grand Valley State pulling out a 12-10 victory.

Lakers’ junior middie Marty Mills paced GVSU to the victory with a hat trick and two dimes while Eagles’ sophomore netminder Grant Shafer turned away 27 shots to keep things close.

Ah, those were the days.

We’re off to the virtual fields today to settle the matter a second time.

No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast rolled over No. 18 Cal State San Marcos in the first round, gobbling up 429 of the 684 votes cast for a 25.4 percentage point triumph.

Second-ranked Grand Valley State got into a higher-scoring affair with No. 31 Elon, taking 613-of-1053 votes for a 16.4 percentage point win.

A staff shirt is on the line in western Michigan!
