ATLANTA – What a bloodbath.

Both top seeds took a tumble.

Seven of the top 10 D-I seeds got thrown out of the club while four of the top 10 D-II seeds received pink slips. Only one Division I second round game features the higher seeds with three such matchups in D-II.

Now we ramp up the competition as the coaches of the eight teams that advance will receive staff shirts (at right) for the 2020 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance – the season that never was.

The smart teams are mobilizing Twitter armies to ensure advancement. How will you help the cause?

The second round in Division I has a very SELC feel. Seven teams from that conference advanced into the Sweet 16, including No. 32 Tennessee after the Vols took down top-seeded Cal Poly.

In Division II, the UMLC sent four teams onto the second round, although St. Thomas and North Dakota State were bounced. No. 32 Stonehill showed top-seeded Kennesaw State the door.

The second round begins on Wednesday, April 1.
