ATLANTA – We made it.

After 60 Twitter polls across two divisions, we’ve finally arrived at our championship games of the 2020 MCLA Virtual Tournament presented by New Balance.

And I don’t think anyone had these matchups at the beginning of action.

In Division I, the Cinderella Tennessee train keeps chugging along after surging past a capable Pittsburgh outfit in the semifinals.

For the fourth time in this tournament, the Volunteers will be on the road. This time, it’s a ticket to Boston’s Logan Airport and a bus ride down Route 1 to Foxborough Stadium – the home to many a lacrosse championship contest.

There they will find Boston College awaiting them.

The No. 11 Eagles subdued Minnesota with a late push to send them to the title game.

The semifinal matchups in Division II mandated that we get a UMLC-SELC clash in the title game, and we received an intriguing matchup.

No. 19 Florida Atlantic bullied their cross-state rival Florida Gulf Coast with an 11th-hour push that earned them a ticket to the Twin Cities and TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

No. 9 St. John’s flattened UMLC rival Dayton in the semis to earn hosting duties for this championship – the first one (virtual or otherwise) held in Minnesota since 2005 in Blaine.

Keep an eye out for the championship polls soon!
