Cal Narrowly Leads WCLL-I Poll
SAN FRANCISCO – By the slimmest of margins, California is the favorite to win the Division I Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) this spring, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Golden Bears edged Cal Poly by one point to take the top spot in the poll. Cal and the Mustangs split the eight first-place votes to finish comfortably in the two top spots.
Checking in at No. 3 is Santa Clara. The Broncos, California and Cal Poly all qualified for the 2019 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance – the last tournament held.
Dominican caps off the top half of the poll, followed by UC Santa Barbara.
Sonoma State, Nevada and Stanford round out the poll.
WCLL Division I will have an automatic qualifying bid to the 2022 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, which will take place at the Round Rock (Texas) Multipurpose Complex from May 9-14.
