FAU’s Spilker Top D-II Goalie
ATLANTA – After posting a 1-1 week, including an outstanding performance against a D-I outfit, Florida Atlantic sophomore Harrison Spilker has been named the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
The Boys Latin (Md.) product started the week against Georgia Southern on Saturday, when he turned away nine of the 14 shots that came his way in a 13-5 victory for the Owls.
Spilker followed that up on Sunday with an impressive showing against MCLA Division I South Florida. In an 8-6 loss to the Bulls, he made 19 saves, keeping FAU in the hunt until the end.
Combined, Spilker had a save percentage of 67.5 and a 6.50 goals against average.
“Harrison is a key part of our defense and does a great job sparking our transition game with his pinpoint accuracy,” said Florida Atlantic coach Stavros Neocleous. “He did a great job backstopping our defense in two key matchups with a conference opponent and a D-I opponent this past weekend.“
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Spilker will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
