GT’s Pagliaro Goalie of the Week
ATLANTA – After guiding Georgia Tech to a massive ranked road win, Yellow Jacket senior netminder Gino Pagliaro has been named the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 20.
The Ramblin’ Wreck headed down to Columbia, S.C., for the first time in the modern MCLA era and the Jackets were in for a battle. Behind 20 saves from Sandy Hook, Conn., product, Georgia Tech posted the 12-8 triumph.
With eight goals allowed and 20 stops, Pagliaro was running at a 71.4 save percentage clip against the No. 10 squad in the country.
“Gino played very well defensively, and was able to optimize on the three key areas of his game: saving, clearing and communication,” said Georgia Tech goalie coach Kevin McCue. “It made our defensive unit even stronger to finish the game like we did.
“He was great out of the cage as well. Intercepting passes and scooping up some key 50-50 ground balls. He made some key plays to turn away the explosive Gamecock offense.
“His tenure in the cage is paying off as a senior leader on this team, playing a key role for us defensively this season.”
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Pagliaro will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
