SELC D-I Players of the Week
(from an SELC press release)
The SELC Division I Players of the Week for games played March 21 - 27:
Sam Weis, South Carolina - Senior, Attack
Weis is once again the pick for SELC Offensive Player of the Week after spurring the 'Cocks offense in wins over both Cal Poly and Florida State. The veteran attackman out of Wando High School provided three goals and an assist in each game, helping South Carolina cruise to two comfortable wins against perennial powers.
Defensive Player of the Week
Parker Beeson, Florida - Graduate, Defense
Charleston, S.C. rejoices as Beeson joins Weis to make it a clean sweep of this week's SELC awards by Wando High School alumni. The fifth-year senior and team captain was excellent all weekend in two critical regional games with conference tournament implications.
Against USF, Beeson spearheaded a stout defensive effort that held the opponent to six goals. Against Auburn, Beeson rallied the defense after Florida went down 4-0 early in the first quarter. The Gator defense held Auburn to just one goal each in the second and third quarters, and this allowed the Gator offense to find its rhythm, eliminate the deficit and take the lead.
To boot, Beeson scored a huge momentum goal in transition to start the second half of play.
