USU’s Preisler Named Goalie of Week
ATLANTA – After backstopping Utah State to two of its four wins on its undefeated swing through Minnesota, Aggies junior netminder Bostin Preisler has been named the PEARL Division II Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 27.
The North Ogden, Utah, product opened the week against No. 8 North Dakota State and turned away 13 of the 17 shots on cage (76.5 save percentage) as Utah State rolled up the Bison, 11-4.
Three days later, Preisler got the nod against defending Division II champion and top-ranked St. Thomas and he continued his brilliant play. He made 14 saves – including a monster stop in overtime – as the Aggies stunned the Tommies, 8-7.
For the weekend, he stopped 27 of the 38 shots that came his way against two Top 10 teams – a 71.1 save percentage.
“Bostin stood on his head this week,” said Utah State coach Scott Bingham. “It wouldn't take him long to get a read on the opposing teams and after he'd seen what they were capable of, he'd shut them out.
“He came through with some huge saves, seeing shots from every angle and distance imaginable, and without a doubt he carried the team to our win over the number one team in the nation. Bostin made a massive save in overtime against St. Thomas and off of the back of that he gave us the chance to put that game away.”
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Preisler will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
