Georgia’s McCall Earns PEARL Honor
ATLANTA – After a monumental effort in a shootout win over the second-ranked team in the country, Georgia netminder Reed McCall is the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending April 2.
In a huge rivalry contest with No. 2 Georgia Tech, the Sparta, N.J., native made 24 saves as the No. 7 Bulldogs posted the 19-15 victory to improve to 10-1 on the season.
For the spring, McCall has accumulated a stunning 63.7 save percentage.
“Reed stood on his head all day long,” said Georgia coach Holin Axley. “He made every type of save possible to help us maintain momentum throughout the game while also leaving the crease to scoop up four crucial ground balls.
“His leadership has been a big reason we’ve had the success we’ve had thus far, and we couldn’t be where we are as a team without him. He holds his teammates accountable in every drill during practice and is exactly what you’d want in a senior leader.”
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, McCall will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
