Hall of Fame Details Released
ATLANTA – After a three-year delay, the MCLA Hall of Fame Class of 2020 will be inducted at the 2023 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance on the weekend of May 12-13.
The original Class of 2020 consists of a coach, a contributor and five players.
Steven Austin, Player – Brigham Young
Dominic Gomez, Player – Sonoma State
Dallas Hartley, Player – Sonoma State
Jason Lamb, Coach – Brigham Young
Sonny Pieper, Contributor
Mike Roth, Player – Colorado State
Trevor Yealy, Player – Michigan
For reasons that we’re all too familiar with, the Class of 2020 was not able to go through that spring as planned. After getting back on its feet, the MCLA is ready to honor this class.
“It’s been a long time coming, but we’re thrilled and honored to finally induct this quality group of individuals,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “All of these players, coaches and contributors set the early tone for the MCLA that we are still building off of today.”
In addition, an eighth member will be included in the induction ceremony, which will be held on Friday, May 12, at 6 p.m.
Former Sonoma State coach and long-time MCLA eligibility coordinator Doug Carl will also be inducted as the lone member of the 2023 Class.
Carl won a national championship with the Seawolves in 2002 and was the runner-up in 2005. He won numerous WCLL championship and was honored with Coach of the Year honors twice.
“There is no one who has worked harder for the MCLA in numerous roles that Doug Carl,” said Lovic. “He has a passion for our league, which has showed in his coaching, administrative work and helping our championships run. He’s a worthy admission.”
