ATLANTA- Following strong seasons Buffalo attackman Tommy Campbell and North Florida defenseman Connor Insel have been named the Godekeraw Award winners in their respective divisions for the 2026 season.

The Godekeraw Award is presented annually to a player in both MCLA Division I and II who excels on the field, in the classroom as well as having a strong community service component. It is the association’s most prestigious award.

Campbell, a senior from Clarence, NY was a four-time All-CLC selection and earned All-America honors in 2026.  Campbell averaged 4.8 points per game for his career with Buffalo.

In the classroom, Campbell maintains a 3.9 GPA in a mechanical engineering and MBA curriculum.

“Tommy Campbell is the rare individual who makes everyone around him better—whether it is a freshman teammate, a young kid trying a new sport, or a volunteer at a community center,”  Buffalo head coach Cole Milliron said. “He is an elite athlete, a brilliant student, and an upstanding neighbor who leaves every organization better than he found it.”

In addition to his work on the field and in the classroom, Campbell has made his mark in the Buffalo community.  Campbell worked with the Genesis Center, a community center offering groceries, clothing, hot meals, and baby items to those in need.  Campbell designed and implemented an electronic tracking system to replace a dated paper system used in the past helping the Genesis Center better monitor their activities and inventory.  Campbell also works with Clarence Youth Lacrosse in his hometown helping to coach kids ranging from 5th grade to the junior varsity program.

Insel, a defenseman for the Ospreys, helped lead the team to the SELC North Region Championship in 2026.  Insel was also named First-Team All-SELC and Honorable Mention All-America in 2026.  The Burlington, VT native served as Team President in 2026 in addition to maintaining a 3.5 GPA in Business Management.

Insel has worked with Guana Tolomato Matanzas beach cleanups in the Jacksonville area as well as Field of Dreams Baseball in St. John’s, Florida.

In 2025 Insel completed an unpaid internship with the Florida Department Environment Protection where his work led to a full-time job offer upon graduation.

Ospreys head coach Chris Hendricks said, “Connor exemplifies the balance of athletic excellence, academic commitment, and meaningful community service that this award represents.”

Congratulations to Tommy Campbell and Connor Insel, the 2026 Godekeraw Award winners.
