ATLANTA – After leading the Cougars to a 2-0 weekend, including an upset of the No. 1 team in the country, Cal State San Marcos sophomore midfielder Colin Dobbins is the MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending March 16.

The weekend kicked off on Friday when Arizona Christian visited for an SLC clash. Thanks to a goal and an assist from the Carlsbad, Calif., native, the Cougars sank the Firestorm, 14-9.

This set up a massive matchup with No. 1 Air Force on Sunday. Dobbins led the way in the 15-9 upset of the Falcons, stinging six goals for the Cougars.

For the weekend, Dobbins amassed seven goals and a dime.

"He is the backbone of our offense,” said San Marcos coach Tim Puls. “He means so much to this team and the offense. He came from playing at [NCAA Division III] powerhouse Stevenson University, so it shows how he carries himself on the field and the skill level that he brings to this team and our offense.

“He can change the game very quickly and take over the game. He is the guy you want the ball in his stick when the game is on the line or when you need to take over the game. He has a very high IQ of the game and makes some incredible plays when the ball is in his stick.

“He wants to make his teammates better and makes them work hard day in and day out in practice and it shows during games. He is our go to guy and when we need someone to make a play we call his number.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Dobbins will receive a Warrior XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
